The challenge: Sound levels inside the heat pump housing
Inside the heat pump housing, the sound energy is reflected by hard surfaces such as side and roof panels. Without acoustic measures, the sound intensity can increase dramatically due to repeated reflection of the sound waves – resulting in high sound pressure levels that are transmitted through the housing to the outside.
Acoustic excitation makes sheet metal or plastic housing panels and fan blades vibrate strongly. These vibrations – caused by the compressor or the air flow – propagate in the form of bending or compression waves. The result: Structure-borne sound that is transmitted to the surroundings as airborne sound.
