Effective sound insulation for machines and vehicles
Mineral fibres, such as glass wool and rock wool, are widely used materials in the field of technical sound insulation. They offer excellent insulation, sound and fire protection properties and are therefore indispensable in many industrial and technical applications.
Advantages of mineral fibres
Mineral fibres are characterised by their high insulation performance. They are non-combustible and belong to fire protection class A1, which makes them particularly fire-safe. They are also resistant to rot, mould and vermin. Their structure enables effective sound absorption, as the fibres are interwoven and absorb noise. Mineral fibres are durable and water-repellent, but must not become damp or wet, as this will cause them to lose their insulating properties.
Disadvantages of mineral fibres
Despite their many advantages, mineral fibres also have some disadvantages. They have low heat storage capacity due to their low bulk density, which results in less effective thermal insulation in summer. In addition, the insulating performance can deteriorate significantly when moisture is present, as mineral fibres have difficulty releasing water. This makes them less suitable for applications with high humidity.
